Sachin,Lara disagrees on ICC DRS rule

Indian Cricket Legend Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies batting legend Brian Lara discuss about ICC increasing the DRS referrals from two to three for each team.

Sachin backs ICC idea of Three referrals ,mainly because of Home umpiring due to covid-19 travel constrains across the World. But Sachin doesn’t look amused with ICC idea of making decisions based on % of ball hitting the stumps for overturning on-field umpires LBW decisions.

In Current scenario, on-field decision for LBW will be over turned only if more than >50%ball is hitting the stumps other wise call will stand.

Sachin’s take on Third umpires decision on LBW

“I feel, if somebody is unhappy on the field be batter or bowler, somebody is unhappy with on-field decision and that is the only reason they have gone upstairs to the third umpire and when we go upstairs for third umpire let the technology takeover just like in Tennis,it’s either in or out there is nothing in-between.The on-field referee’s decision doesn’t really come in to play, so it should be like that”.

“I know that no of people have said that the technology is not 100% right, but neither are we, humans are not 100% right either. So once you decided to use technology then you rely on it.Here also you have to see the travel path of the ball, the ball is not directly hitting the stumps, there is a guy standing in-between.

so number of elements come into play, the turn, the bounce, swing and all those things but eventually you have to form the travel path and we have to rely on technology.”

West Indies legend Brian Lara feels in same way and he said “since DRS is par of our game, we should try to improve the technology and accept it.In the past we have seen so many decisions gone against us, some favorable to one team, unfavorable to another team, i am not complaining here. Especially LBW decisions gone against me so many times” .

South African speedster Dale Steyn, expressed his views on the same matter long back, so ICC should consider suggestion from Legendary Cricketers to improve fairness in the game.
