Premier League : Sheffield United 2 – 3 Manchester United

Manchester United come from behind at Sheffield United 2 – 3 to secure their 10th consecutive away victory in the league. The victory moves Man Utd up to sixth on 23 points, while Sheff Utd remain bottom of the table with one point.

Marcus Rashford scored twice while Anthony Martial scores his first Premier League goal of 2020/21 season for Manchester United. David McGoldrick shines once again for Blades with two goals.

Sheffield Boss Wilder made three changes for the clash against the Red Devils. McGoldrick and Burke started in attack, with Robinson replacing Jagielka in defence. McBurnie missed out through injury, whilst Sharp was named amongst the substitutes.

Man United manager Ole made couple of changes in the starting-lineup from 0-0 Manchester Derby. Dean Henderson replaced De Gea in-front of goal to face his former team, Telles replaced Shaw at left-back, Matic and Martial starts in place of McTominay and Fred.

The home side took the lead on five minutes when David McGoldrick tapped in after Sheff Utd had taken advantage of hesitation from their former on-loan goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

John Fleck shot narrowly wide soon after before Rashford superbly controlled Victor Lindelof’s long pass and fired in to equalize on 26 minutes.

The visitors went in front seven minutes later with Anthony Martial prodding home after being found by Paul Pogba’s deft pass.

Rashford finished a flowing counter-attack involving Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Martial to make the score 3-1 in the 51st minute. 

McGoldrick headed in his second with three minutes remaining before the hosts were denied an equaliser when Henderson saved from substitute Lys Mousset.

Man United earned their sixth successive win away from home having conceded first – extending their Premier League record. It is also just the fourth time a team has won 10 consecutive English top-flight away games.

Reds have scored at least twice in 10 consecutive away premier league games, The longest such run in the top-flight since Spurs also reached 10 in 1960.

  • Sheffield United will play at Brighton on Sunday, 20th December.
  • Manchester United will host Leeds at Old Trafford on Sunday, 20th December. The Reds face Leeds United in the Premier League for the first time since 2004. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on the bench that day; he’ll line up in the dugout against Marco Bielsa this time around.
