NBA Finals : Lakers defeat Heat 116-98 in Game 1

Lakers draws first blood in the 2020 NBA Finals by defeating Heat 116-98 in Game 1. Heat may potentially lose Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo for game 2 on Friday with injuries.

Despite a strong start by the Heat, the Lakers rallied to take control and then never looked back. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 34 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including 2-of-4 from long range, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks, in 38 minutes. LeBron James followed up with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting, 13 rebounds, nine assists and a steal, in 36 minutes.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green and Alex Caruso also scored in double digits for Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 23 points, five assists, two rebounds and two steals, in 33 minutes.

Kendrick Nunn followed up with 18 points, five rebounds and two assists, in 20 minutes off the bench, while Tyler Herro chipped in 14 points, and Jae Crowder added 12 points. The Heat could not keep up on the glass, as they gave up nine offensive rebounds, which turned into 16 points for the Lakers.
