IPL 2021 Player Retention : Delhi Capitals

The window for the eight IPL franchises to retain players for the Indian Premier League 2021 season closed on Wednesday, 20th January. 139 players were retained by the franchises whereas 57 players were released from their existing squads.  

Delhi Capitals surprised many during IPL 2020 season by reaching Finals against Champions Mumbai Indians under young Captain Shreyas Iyer, the management want to keep the Momentum going for Next season. So they have decided to keep the core together by retaining 19 Players at the dead line day.

The Team decided to let go six players from the last year’s squad including two overseas players. They are left with INR 12.9018 Cr of cap room to ply with at Mini Auction to fill six available slots, which includes 2 overseas slots.

Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Prithvi Shaw, R Ashwin, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Lalit Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Daniel Sams, Pravin Dubey, Chris Woakes

Released Players: 

Alex Carey, Keemo Paul, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mohit Sharma, Jason Roy
